Bonded Post-Tensioning

Building on intensive research and experience in the production of anchors and equipment, TTM has established itself in the international market with solutions that represent added value for the sector.

Principles and Advantages

The TTM system was developed as part of an integrated concept of solutions in the area of prestressing for bridges, geotechnics and buildings, establishing itself in an internationally demanding technical and competitive market. Drawing on intensive research and experience in the production of anchors and specialist equipment for construction, and belonging to a steel sector group, Ferca applies TTM components and anchors in its Ferca PTA system, specifically in:

  • Prestressing in bridges and civil works
  • Prestressing in buildings
  • Geotechnical consolidation systems
  • Bearing devices and expansion joints for bridges
  • Industrial floors

Anti-Corrosion Protection

Recognising anti-corrosion protection as a key factor in the long-term performance of prestressing systems, TTM has developed internally an integrated set of systems with multiple protection levels to ensure the durability and reliability of its systems under high-exposure conditions against infiltration and corrosion. The system includes polyethylene sheaths, anchors with epoxy coating or fully polyethylene-encased, polyethylene caps and accessories allowing injection of lubricating grease or grout in a wide range of situations.

The TTM system is certified by the European Organisation for Technical Approvals (EOTA), ensuring its quality and suitability for use in a wide range of situations and configurations, via documents ETA 15/0321, ETA 15/0329 and ETA 16/0472.

Steel

Prestressing reinforcement consists of 7-wire strands characterised by high strength values and low relaxation coefficients. Prestressing steels are generally designated normal, super and compact, corresponding to cross-sections of 140, 150 and 165 mm² respectively. For more information, refer to European standard EN10138.

Sheaths

Metal or polyethylene sheaths are the most common and economical solutions for creating the voids needed for the passage of prestressing steel, acting simultaneously as secondary corrosion protection and essentially ensuring force transmission between the inner section and the surrounding concrete along their full length. Metal sheaths can be galvanised, but for anti-corrosion guarantees it is polyethylene sheaths that prove particularly effective, as when properly installed and integrated into an appropriate system they provide total isolation of the tendon from its surroundings.

TTM anchors reflect the accumulated experience of the company and its engineers, as well as the R&D department's focus on optimising geometry and corrosion protection levels. Standard anchors in the TTM system are designated M (active) or D (passive) and cover strand quantities from 4 to 27. Higher corrosion protection levels are offered by MEP anchors with epoxy polyester coating and MX anchors, 100% polyethylene-encased for particularly aggressive environments. TTM has also developed, in integration with the other components of its system, couplers and accessories for continuity anchors.
